Darren Ornitz (B. 1985) is a visual story teller based in Brooklyn. His projects primarily focus on in-depth narratives and on stories which highlight issues surrounding vulnerable populations of people. Most recently he has been working on a long term project about a gang intervention and reintegration program in Casco Viejo, Panama, spotlighting alternative methods to incarceration for at-risk youth.
He has traveled extensively throughout Latin America, Africa, & the Middle East documenting stories that have been published in a variety of publications including the New York Times, Washington Post, Bloomberg, Roads & Kingdoms, Travel + Escape, Matador, and by various NGO’s.
In addition to photography, Darren is a co-founder of Innerspace Wellbeing, a project focused on bringing meditation & other contemplative practices to offices, schools, community centers and individuals.
